Who is Chandler Riley?
Raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, and the son of a General Conference employee, some of my earliest memories are of the old GC building and some of the people that worked there. I started working there myself after school my junior year of high school and spent my summers working there through college.
After a short stint as a middle school teacher, I came back to the GC complex working with Service Records in NAD/DMS (now ITS - the computer department) before taking on a job as an application processor in the NAD Retirement Office. I would eventually become the team leader over the benefits section. After seven years there, I was offered and accepted a Benefits Specialist position in GCHR. At that time the GCHR office handled the HR for GC and NAD employees.
After seven years of that (good Adventist length of time), I left to spend the next nine months traveling around New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the U.S.
When I arrived back in Maryland that fall, NAD asked me to join their newly formed HR office and help them get caught back up after they’d been short-staffed for a while. I found I loved using my knowledge and experience to help in that way. I would spend the next seven and a half years at the NAD as an Associate Director over benefits. I left in 2023 only to come back three months later when my replacement was unexpectedly unable to work soon after starting. I’d leave again a year later for five months coming back again unexpectedly to fill in for another absence in my position.
I have a passion for helping our HR offices when they are short-staffed, need a little assistance, or could use some training. In this new role, I will be able do just that.
My prayer has and will be that God will use my years of knowledge acquisition and experience to help those needing an HRAssist.
